Certified Translation Services Online and Onsite in Stockholm/ Sweden and in Riga/The Baltics
A certified translation is a translated document that has been confirmed as accurate and complete by a certified translator, along with a signed statement attesting to the accuracy of the translation. This type of translation is often required for legal, immigration, or official document purposes, and typically requires a stamp or seal from the translator, indicating their certification. Certified translations provide an official record of the original language text that is recognized as valid by government and other authorized institutions.

Price of a Certified Translation
The price of a certified translation depends on the number of words in the document, and on the language combination and when you need the translation delivered.
In Baltic Media® certified translation of a document (certified by our office’s representative or by notary public) costs from SEK 250 or 25 EUR +VAT
NOTE! In order to be able to offer this price, we certify our translations at the notary public in Latvia (where our head office is located) and then send documents by a registered letter to your postal address.
Cheap and Fast Solution of a Certified Translation in All Languages
In order to reduce your certification costs, we certify translations at a notary public in Riga (Latvia) where our production office is located. It is the client’s responsibility to check beforehand if the certification by a notary public in Latvia (EU) is valid in the intended country and institution.
Please note that certifying a translation by a notary public in Sweden is much more expensive and requires that the translation is performed only by an authorized translator by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce. The number of these translators is limited and not available in all languages.
We offer a cheaper and faster solution of a certified translation in all languages. International and national law firms and private individuals appreciate this service.
Terms | Certified and Notarized Translation
Certified – This implies that a professional translator does the translation. After the translation, a representative of our office certifies that “THE TRANSLATION IS CORRECT” with a signature and the stamp of Baltic Media®.
Notarized – This is essentially the same as a certified translation, with one additional step. The translator signs the certification statement in front of a notary. Note that the notary's stamp and signature here are notarizing the certification, not the translation itself.
What is an authorised translator? Authorised translator Sweden
“Authorised Translator” is a protected professional title, which is awarded by Kammarkollegiet (the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency). An authorised translator is bound by professional rules of confidentiality prescribed by law and performs advanced translation in a variety of areas. Clients may include government agencies, companies and private individuals. It is important to entrust your texts to an authorised translator because authorisation is a guarantee of quality and legal certainty.
To become an authorised translator, a translator must successfully complete a translation examination with extremely high requirements. The exam is organised each year by Kammarkollegiet in various locations in Sweden. Prior to authorisation, Kammarkollegiet conducts a check of a candidate’s integrity. Only natural persons can be granted translation authorisation, not legal entities.
An authorised translator must adhere to “Excellent Translation Practices” (God translatorssed), which comprise guidelines for authorised translators issued by Kammarkollegiet. Kammarkollegiet is a supervisory agency for authorised translators and authorisation must be renewed every fifth year. Assignments conducted by authorised translators vary from school documents, official papers, birth and marriage certificates, death certificates, general and annual reports to judgments, police reports, litigation and demanding legal texts.
It is important to note that there is no legal requirement in Sweden that a translation must be authorised to be valid. However, it is often a requirement imposed by authorities or other organisations.
Please note that the number of authorised translators is very limited, so they are not available in all languages. Therefore, we recommend using the cheaper and safer option of a certified translation.
